An Incredible Honor

darkNNasty
Today I have been honored with one of the most special accolades of my entire career. Kudu Coffee, the best coffee shop in all of Charleston… all of the world for that matter, has added my official drink to the menu.

Announcing Adam’s Dutch Dark & Nasty!

As I sit here with tears rolling down my face while I drink my dark & nasty, I first want to thank the academy, my mother for naming me, god for inventing coffee, my lovely wife Stephanie and my beautiful children August and Annabelle for supporting me….hahahah anyway…

If you are ever in Chucktown make sure you go by Kudu and drink me!
:)

Harborfest

Arrrr! Ahoy! Avast! We had an awesome day at the Charleston Harborfest. Tall ships, real pirates, cool wooden boats, a pirate cruise on the Pride, and plenty o’ jump castles. Beautiful day, beautiful boats and lots of pirate storytelling. Most impressive was a recreation of the famed Amistad, complete with animated storytelling of what really happened.

Happy Fun Mac Video

This made me smile this morning :)

I love this concept. It reminds me a bit of an old thing I did at IQ

It tastes sooo good when it hits my lips

Sweetwater 420
Having been in Charleston almost a year now, I definitely have a few things I miss from the ATL. Of course my friends and family. Our neighborhood homeless guy Ernest. Brunswick stew and grill cheese from Old South. You know…the usual stuff. But without question, the number one thing I miss is Sweetwater 420!

This beer was my staple in Atlanta. It is literally the perfect beer. Locally brewed, excellent hoppy but not too hoppy flavor. A “session” beer it has been called by some. Amazingly enough this masterfully crafted extra pale is not sold in Charleston :(

Now I don’t want to diss the local breweries here…OK I do. They arent so hot. In fact I have been so underwhelmed that my by beer of choice since I’ve moved here has become Blue Moon. It is awesome on tap with an orange and seems to fit the whole vibe here for some reason.

Anyway….

Well I must have done something right because my mother-in-law “Mimi” showed up yesterday to visit us for a week and she had 4 TWELVE PACKS WITH HER! Ahhhh Yeah!! All hail Mimi!

Attention family and friends…or anyone traveling from Atlanta to Charleston for that matter…bring 420. You will be rewarded!

Project Management from the Developer’s Perspective

BWC
I didn’t attend this year’s FITC in Toronto :( but I’m sure a grand time was had by all.

Rock star developer and friend The BWC Stacey Mulcahy has posted a pdf of her presentation HERE
Her presentation features one of the Charleston Stencil Photos in it…Cool!

I really loved working with Stacey and really appreciate her intellect and humor. If you work in a team with developers involved you owe it to yourself to check out her presentation. Excellent insights!

WSJ

Wall Street Journal
A rich media campaign I have been working on launched today on the Wall Street Journal’s new real estate section. We own the majority of the ads on the homepage and have a cool :15 video spot …..courtesy of the almighty TEEM ….that runs before any of the videos on the site. The ads all link to a nice landing page that serves as an easy gateway into Turks & Caicos Sporting Club.

These ads all promote our newly paved 5700 ft jet strip on our private island in the Caribbean. Sweet :)

You can check the ads out HERE

My favorite gets more favorite-er :)

Raval
In an awesome and rare kid free evening recently, my wife and I got a chance to go to one of our favorite places in Charleston, Raval We love the Spanish wines and tapas there and you can’t beat the amazing atmosphere and staff.

Anyway….as we were sitting at the bar enjoying our Txakolina..mmmm…the bartender threw an empty bottle into a bin under the bar making a loud sound of glass breaking. He said “that’s the sound of recycling!” He went on to tell us how Raval and their sister restaurant next door Monza…also awesome… had gone green.

They recycle everything now, switched to single ply napkins, changed all of the light bulbs, changed the candles..even compost all the left over food. Very cool!

If you are ever in Charleston, Raval is a must!

Create South / Kulture Klash Saturday

Adam and Aeron at Create South in Myrtle Beach

I had one of the best Saturdays I have had in a long time this weekend. The day started with a short car ride up the coast to Myrtle Beach for Create South. It was really cool to meet some of the lowcountry bloggers and share some blog knowledge with a very diverse crowd. Professors, librarians, knitters, journalists, podcasters, moms, dorks like me….it really ran the gamut. The photo above is of my friend Aeron and I from Joan’s blog.

Other blogs of note to check out from the conference are:
Home Ec 101
Chuckography
Ed Cone
XARK
Evil Genius Chronicles
Fuel Interactive
and I’m sure many many more……

It was a great conference and I look forward to checkin it out again. The BBQ at lunch was amazing. Definitely the best I’ve had since I’ve moved to SC.

Live Graffiti at Kulture Klash in Charleston
Then it was back home for Kulture Klash at Noisette at the old Navy base in North Charleston. I had heard about Kulture Klash from last year and what an amazing party it was so I was excited to check it out. I was not disappointed! The event was a killer art show combined with live performance art, live graffiti and my favorite….drum n bass! Local crew Dub Island Sound System was off the chain! My friend Tim Hussey had three great pieces in the show and our little crew had a sweet time rockin our 843 hats and generally being idiots. BOH! BOH!

The photo above is one I grabbed on my iPhone at the event. You can check out the rest HERE
