Charleston Stencils

Charleston Stencils

These really interesting stencils have been showing up around our office. Ill keep grabbing pics of them with my iPhone as I see them. Here are what I have so far.

I hope this ends up to be something cool and not a lame ad campaign.

The exact same text for these has been showing up for a few weeks now (using chalk/markers) on buildings and street signs downtown. I’m wondering if there’s any relationship between the golden ratio that’s being spray painted (1.618) and the pi group.

I noticed that the text on ideafont.com has been released under a creative commons license - but the flickr pics aren’t. Can I reproduce the pics (with attribution) on tagrecord.com?

I wonder if someone in Charleston was inspired by these and started doing their own?

I also found this site which correlates to the numbers on the stencils:

nope, not an ad campaign, just hoping some people will take a second and question their lives. and maybe bring a small smile to your face. I put out new ones every few days as they get buffed out rather quickly in that area.

It is easy to sit up and take notice. What is difficult is getting up and taking action.

if anyone has ideas for stencils or would like some to spray comment on here, and i will arrange a drop point. Glad you guys like what im doing, keep your eyes open, newer bigger pieces are going to be deployed soon, and not necessarily in stencil form….

Just on the sidewalks…..I beg you. Not on the buildings.

if you’ve noticed, ive moved away from damaging property as i did in the begging, mostly on sidewalks and in low visibility places, more so to keep people on the look out.
sorry for any damage done early on. i would love some feedback as to what you like/dont like, though most likely ill continue with my art either way :)

so someone turned me in. guess who will be doing community service. my initial disrespect for property is grounds for this punishment, i understand that. But the things i do are not meant to offend anyone in anyway. merely to open you mind to new possibilities even if just for a moment. you just have to look in less obvious places for my work now.
